LISTEN ONLINE: Wilford’s story
Wilford came from a solid family but strayed away from what he knew he should be doing.
“I come from a good family, but I abused it, ya know, and I misused my family. I had many opportunities, but I allowed drugs and alcohol to destroy me, my family, my kids… for years.
One time I was sleeping in the streets, just anywhere I could, ya know, ‘cuz my family wouldn’t tolerate my actions, but, um, out there in the streets it’s just one on one, everybody for themselves, you know, um, you’re just taking a chance at your life.”
After nearly losing his life, Wilford knew it was time for a change. He came to the City Rescue Mission in Saginaw looking for direction, guidance, healing, and hope.
“It’s a wonderful place. I realize of anybody that if they need help, this is the place, because they won’t turn their back on you. But you have to do the right thing, you have to make your mind up, you got to show some progress. God’s blessed me so many ways, I think I’ve probably got it this time. You have to make it up in your mind, you have to pray, and you have to give your heart to God.”
Because of your generous support, men like Wilford can come to the mission in their time of need and find a warm welcome, safe shelter, and an introduction to the only true solution for the issues they face: a relationship with Jesus Christ.
